chemo cycle 1 day 1

If 6 weeks ago you had told me that I'd be getting chemotherapy today, I would have said you were off your rocker. And you would have been right...

I just got back from the doctor's office. I was there for 6 hours attached to an IV drip. They put in steroids and other meds to counteract chemo's side effects plus the actual chemo therapy. I was expecting it to be so totally boring so I brought books and even a laptop so I can work. As it happened, it was actually quite fun. I had 4 other people getting chemotherapy along with me. They were such a great bunch. The conversation was lively and funny even sometimes. We even celebrated the birthday of the only guy there with us. The nurse baked some goodies and we sang Happy Birthday! I swear, it felt like I was in a beauty parlor. Instead of hair dryers, we had IV drips.

No, I did not get to work at all. At this point, work is secondary. I'm still anxious on how I was going to react to the chemo. The side-effects usually kick in after a couple of days. But the doctor says, if I get through this week, I'll be fine. I'll know what to expect in the future...

My treatment regimen will be chemo today (Monday, Feb 27). Then 3 weeks after that. Then another 3 weeks after. Then re-staging. We'll see how well I responded to the chemo. Re-evaluate treatment. I'm hoping for the best, of course. Like my friend KEE tells me - we're hoping for a goose egg (which means the cancer is all gone). Hey, if we're asking for a miracle, let's ask for what we truly want, right? With the Lord, nothing is impossible.
